<< New features in openCRX v1.8 >>

The main topics of openCRX v1.8 are complex products, compound contract positions, and service contracts (driven by a feature acceleration agreement funded by a major European Telco).

Compound Products and Compound Contract Positions

With the compound products extension you will be able to build complex products based on simple products. openCRX will support the whole range of advanced product structuring, e.g. product bundling and design of product offerings based on multiple product bundles. The following example shows a product offering consisting of various product bundles:

Compound contract positions enable you to easily create structured contract positions with compound products. A new operation Create Position based on Product Offering enables you to create complex orders that are consistent with existing Product Offerings and Product Bundles with just a few clicks. The enhanced Grid visualizes the structure of complex orders and allows you to collapse subordinated positions:

Contract Extension to support service contracts

To enhance support for service focussed companies we will extend openCRX contracts accordingly.

Enhanced Security Model to support Single Sign-On

openCRX supports multi-Realm and multi-Role Single Sign-On. Once a principal is successfully authenticated access is granted to all authorized realms and roles, i.e. any user can change realms and roles (obviously within his set of authorized realms and roles) on the fly without reauthentication. Single Sign-On is a very powerful feature and a real time saver in highly structured environments like call centers, help desks, etc.

Usability Enhancement: Updated HTML Control (Xinha)

The updated HTML control Xinha (www.xinha.org) takes care of several shortcomings/bugs that were present in the previous version:

Usability Enhancement: Collapsable Grids

The enhanced openCRX Grid is not only capable of visualizing the structure of complex orders, it also allows you to collapse subordinated positions:

Performance Tuning

A generous donation allowed us to spend some time on reducing the number of DB requests for various often used grids (User home, Activities, etc.) and eliminate 3-table joins (while the latter are handled without problems by Oracle, most other DBMS do not deliver satisfactory performance - read: it would take seconds or even minutes to answer such requests...). The resulting performance enhancement is quite impressive.

New Language: it_IT

openCRX is already available in many languages and more of them are in the pipeline. Pietro Mathieu has contributed the Italian translation of openCRX (locale it_IT):

At this time we do not know yet which additional languages will be ready for inclusion in this openCRX release, but any news will be posted without delay. If you want to contribute and are ready to translate a bunch of strings into a new language, .
