<< New features in openCRX v1.6 >>

Please consult these instructions for upgrades from openCRX v1.5.0 to openCRX v1.6.0

Driven by a co-development agreement with a call-center operator (several thousand seats, globally distributed) openCRX will deliver a whole range of extremely advanced features geared towards help desk, customer service & support and Bug Tracking functionality starting with v1.6 (more features are planned for future versions):

Multi-level Navigation

Enhanced multi-level navigation with DHTML-based menus reduce the number of clicks required to navigate to the a particular object. In addition, many objects can be created with a single click:

Multi-Grid Views

View multiple Grids without time-consuming server roundtrips. For example, in addition to the address information of an account you can at the same time see all open activities and all open pipeline items of the respective account:

Creator Menu

A new slick creator menu enables you to create new objects with a single click.

HTML View/Edit

Viewing multi-line text fields is now more in line with the typical web experience as fields in the Inspector automatically adjust to the size of the content. It is also possible to format text with standard HTML tags:

Applying rich text formatting to text fields is made easy with an advanced HTML editor (no need to know HTML as the editor emulates the behavior of well-known word processors). The following screen shot shows the same object as above, this time in edit mode:

The same HTML viewing experience is also available in the Grid. The Grid can be switched into a mode showing the full content of Grid cells:

Code value driven coloring

Grids rows and Inspector fields can be colored based on code values. The screen shot below shows a colored list of leads (green for open leads):

Code value driven icons

Icons can be added to Grids cells and Inspector fields driven by code values. The example below shows a list of leads. Depending on the priority of the lead a particular icon is added to the respective Grid cell:

  • Immediate
  • Urgent
  • High

Code value validity range

You can now control the validity range of code values with the newly introduced validFrom and validTo attributes:

Usability and Performance Enhancements "Assigned Activities" / "Assigned Pipeline Items"

With the introduction of Advanced Activity/Effort Tracking we reworked the activity1 UML Model in a major way allowing us the dramatically increase the performance of filtering out Assigned Activities and Assigned Pipeline Ptems. This allows us to make such information available on the fly (i.e. no more executing the famous Refresh operation on the UserHome or on Accounts) even if there are millions of activities or pipeline items. Another truly scalable enterprise-class feature brought to you by the openCRX team.

User Properties

In addition to your personal settings for every grid (sorting, filtering, default filter) openCRX v1.6 will also feature quick access favorites and an improved history. If you work with multiple openCRX-based systems you can easily copy your settings between systems.

Bug Tracking / Incident Management

Building on the tremendous experience of our co-development partner we will add advanced features to openCRX geared towards customer service and help desk requirements. Advanced bug tracking features (combined with the already existing subscricption/notification service) will enable you to get a handle on large and distributed projects. It is our goal to get openCRX v1.6 at least on par with JIRA, Bugzilla, and Mantis. You can already review the UML models at http://www.opencrx.org/opencrx/1.6/uml/index.html (look at the segment "activity1" for newly introduced bug tracking features).

You might also want to look at the openCRX Activity Management Guide.

Support for IBM WebSphere v6.0

Thanks to a contribution to the openCRX project by a major insurance company we are committed to develop and test descriptors required to deploy openCRX on the application server IBM WebSphere v6.0 and various Java classes programmed against the API of IBM WebSphere v6.0.

Starting with openCRX v1.6 you can deploy the openCRX application on IBM WebSphere v6.0 (and we still support IBM WebSphere v5.x).
